What you NEED to know about your 'special' diet

Anyone looking to improve their health these days knows to look at what they are eating. We all know that what we feed our bodies has a huge impact on our mood, energy levels, sleep quality, fitness levels, how inflamed our bodies are and more.

However, one of the biggest things I find as a Holistic Nutritionist and Homeopath is that people don't know that there comes a point when your healthy diet is just not enough because it's just managing a chronic disease and to me, that's not really living. There are more permanent and realistic to your health issues that don't include a rigorous diet plan.

I am not going to deny that health really starts with what you put into your body. Simply, what you put in makes you what you are! If you feed yourself processed foods, high sugar, poor quality fats and other junk, you will find yourself sluggish, moody, irritable, stiff or sore and probably gaining weight.

With the increase in chronic disease and autoimmune illnesses and the much talked about 'gut microbiome' and it's impact on our health, our diets have never been more important! Not only do we want to avoid disease, but we want to reduce any symptoms we have with (often) strict dietary regimes such as keto, paleo, gluten or dairy free.

Yes, these diets really do work for some people. I myself eat a dairy-free, gluten-free diet most of the time. But don't you hate when you strictly follow a diet and you miss out on a good friends birthday cake year after year? Or do you hate that ONE slip means days of pain?

After finishing a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition I was a strict with myself; I was gluten, dairy, corn, sugar free and I NEVER cheated because I would pay for it. And honestly, I felt pretty good...most of the time. But I also felt that things could be better than they were and I SERIOUSLY hoped that my dietary limitations would eventually go away because I really missed cheesecake and cinnamon buns...and pizza.

When I encountered homeopathic medicine I was in for a bit of surprise when it came to my diet. I was told that I wouldn't have to eat like this forever, that I could indulge in the occasional treat or two (or three) without paying for it. I was told that, yes, good nutrition is fundamental to good health, but moderation was also an acceptable thing and that I wouldn't have these massive side effects from the occasional indulgence.

Homeopathy would return balance to my body's crazy reactivity to any food 'cheats' and enable my body to eat a more moderately balanced diet without fear or symptoms.

So, I say this to you, if your are one of those people who only survives pain-free or symptom free with a tightly ruled diet: "You can have a more normal diet! You can start to eat things that you avoid or yes, even sensitive to, without massive flare-ups! Your life won't be ruled by your symptoms - and it shouldn't be!"

I have clients who were severely sensitive to soy or casein and would avoid even the slightest bite of anything or they would pay for it with cramps, severe stomach pain or diarrhea. They can eat these foods now occasionally without any symptoms.

I myself now can eat gluten and diary and corn whereas before I stayed away from it because it gave me severe joint and connective tissue pain.

What is the secret? A medicine that gently stimulates your own immune system to overcome these triggers that you had resolved in your mind that you just had to live with. YOUR BODY IS CAPABLE OF HEALING YOURSELF. That's a fact. Food can heal, yes. So yes, you need to eat well to feel well. But your body shouldn't be ruled by the food you eat. When you find that you 'cheat' and you pay for it, I hate to say it, but that isn't healing. You should be able to eat (unless you actually have a food allergy or you really need to heal your gut) a variety of foods, whatever your health condition, without fear.

Homeopathic treatment is a game-changing medicine when it comes to chronic disease management and treatment. Your life does not need to be ruled by your diet and neither does your health.
