Jet lag, Motionsickness & More

Travelling abroad can be hard on the body. You have to deal with loss of sleep, time zone changes, new foods, parasites and more. Homeopathy can offer some great options for treating jet lag, food poisoning, fear of flying, motion sickness and more. The best part is that you can learn to treat these things by yourself!

Jet lag -
  • Arnica : great for relieving symptoms of exhaustion and jet lag. Can give you a second wind so you are able to stay up till the local bedtime; this will help you adjust to your new time zone swiftly and painlessly.
  • Cocculus : if you feel (upon going to bed) like you are still in motion and find it difficult to sleep
  • Gelsemium : Jet lag with a sense of paralysis. You feel completely exhausted and every body part feels heavy - even your eyelids.
Anxiety related to travel -
  • Argentum nitricum: Fidgety apprehension before travel with restlessness, claustrophobia, or fear of heights
  • Gelsemium :Quiet anxiety before travel with weakness, trembling, and diarrhea possible
  • Aconite :Panic with fear of flying, death, and accidents
  • Arsenicum album: anxiety with fear of death, cold perspiration and extremely pale, thirst for small quantities of water, extreme weakness, vomiting with anxiety, EXTREME restlessness (must constantly move and feels better when moving)
Motion Sickness -
  • Cocculus : Motion sickness in the car or on a boat (nausea, vomiting and dizziness); acts as prophylactic if taken two days before the trip; the thought or smell of food causes nausea
  • Nux Vomica: Sickness that feels like a hangover; desire to vomit but can’t; chills; headache
Traveller's diarrhea -
  • Arsenicum Album :Diarrhea typically associated with exhaustion; restlessness; possible vomiting
  • Podophyllum :Smelly, explosive stools with lots of gurgling
  • Veratrum Album :Cravings for ice cold drinks; possible vomiting
Sunstroke -
Belladonna :Bursting, throbbing headache; fever; hot, dry skin after direct sun exposure
