About Me
I think many people turn to alternative medicine as a last resort. That’s my story too.
My journey to health began with a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition learning how food and lifestyle choices were foundational to good health – from balancing hormones, reducing inflammation and anxiety and more.
The more I studied the more I realized that
although food is foundational to health, sometimes diet changes are not enough to root out or really get rid of a disease.
I seriously considered studying Naturopathic Medicine, Chinese Medicine and acupuncture but was drawn to the uniquely holistic mind-body approach found in Homeopathic Medicine.
I believe healing requires a holistic approach, focusing on what makes each person unique as every person experiences their symptoms differently. Their personality, their life experiences, their childhood, their symptoms are unique to them and should be treated with an individualized approach.
Healing is never about suppressing your symptoms --rather it is understanding the root cause and allowing your body to heal itself as you work through the layers.
Although I am often the last resort for many people seeking healing I feel privileged to walk alongside people in their health journey. I have been gifted the opportunity to help people restore health – whether it’s through overcoming infertility, clearing chronic skin conditions, reducing chronic pain, decreasing the need for long-term medications and more.
What makes me unique is that I am trained in both conventional and alternative medicine and so I understand both sides of the medical system and how to navigate through them both.
Besides running my own natural health business I am a gym rat and I love (to my surprise!) weight lifting! I really appreciate art (I love Group of Seven!), music and I enjoy painting (you can find me on instagram @rachel.vh_art). I am an avid reader (fantasy, mystery, historical fiction) and I enjoy cooking and baking. I love a good coffee.
Some other random things: I lived in England for 5 months studying Tropical Diseases. I’ve travelled to Africa on medical trips and have done some solo travelling in Europe. I am from a large family and I have 3 nieces and two nephews whom I adore! :)
